AboutThe Nile River Bridge is an extra dosed type of bridge. This Bridge is one of the leading bridges in Ethiopia in terms of type, beauty and Modernity. The Bridge has two supporting towers and three spans between the towers. The length of the bridge is 380 meters. Its side width is 43 meters and it can accommodate 6 vehicles at the same time on both left and right sides. In addition, it includes a two way bicycle lane and a 5 meter pedestrian walkway.
The Nile River Bridge is located in Bahirdar, the capital of the Amhara National Regional State. It is located at a distance of 3.38 km downstream from Lake Tana in the city. Its exact GPS location will be E11 ° 25 '15.47", N 37 ° 24 '29.67 ", and crosses Bezawit Road.
The construction of the Bahir Dar Nile River Bridge project started on August 5, 2019. The Construction will be completed by August 04, 2022.
The construction of Abay River Bridge will cost an estimated ETB 1,437,000,000 or 51.34 million US dollars. The project is fully financed by the government of Ethiopia.
