Construction of the new Nile River Bridge in Bahir Dar is in full swing.

State Minister of Transport, Kassahun Gofe, ERA Director General, Engineer Habtamu Tegegn, and senior officials of the Region visited Bahirdar Abay River Bridge project. The new Nile River Bridge is 380 meters long and 43 meters wide. During the visit, the project works under execution are preparation of bridge piers for concrete filling, as well as excavation of the support piles for abutment and the filling of concrete. The pile and pile cap work for all 4 piers have been completed. In addition, construction of one pier is completed and work is progressing to complete the remaining three piers within the next two months. The circular bridge piles have a depth ranging from a minimum of 14 m to a maximum of 23 meters, according to the design. A lot of efforts are made to complete the construction of the new 380-meter Nile River Bridge within the project duration. According to the officials who visited the project, the construction of the bridge is in full swing. The executives also gave further direction to the contractor to carry out the expected significant work in accordance with the contract. The bridge is being constructed on the left and right side of the road I such a way that it accommodates 6 vehicles at a time on both sides, as well as 5 meters of sidewalks and bicycle lanes. China Communications Construction Company is the Contractor executing the 1.4 billion birr project that is financed by the Ethiopian government. The modern bridge, which is being constructed at a distance of 2 km from the existing Nile River Bridge in Bahir Dar, will not only provide a smooth flow of traffic, but also contribute to the city's beautification and growth of the country's revenue and trade.
